Catherine Ford, born in Bloomsbury (London) in London, was raised by the mother, grandmother, and godparents. Her father abandoned her family. When she was a little girl, Catherine Ford struggled with an obsessional disorder. She also experienced anxiety because of the word"association. Ford became interested in the field of acting during her teenage years and she was a part of the National Youth Theatre. She was admitted to Sylvia Young Theatre School but after one week decided she didn't fit in. Ford applied instead for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and eventually secured an interview on her fourth try. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character in Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. Before that, however, Ford made a television debut as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode in the year 1991. Ford took the professional name of Catherine Tate. Tate appeared in programs on television as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. Her regular work in theatre brought her into The Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 Season. Tate became famous for her stand-up comedy, that were added to her show in the year 1996.
